Mozaic Hospice offers supportive and comforting care to those with a life-limiting illness such as cancer, heart disease, COPD and dementia. Hospice care is focused on providing the highest quality of life and maximum comfort for a terminally ill person by reducing pain and addressing physical, psychological and spiritual needs. Care is provided in one’s own home, the home of a family, a hospital or a skilled nursing facility such as Mozaic Jewish Home.
The Mozaic Hospice team consists of specially trained nurses, physicians, social workers, home health aides, clergy, volunteers and bereavement specialists who work closely together to provide comfort with a focus on pain and symptom management. Emotional support is a cornerstone of care for both patients and family members, and spiritual guidance is offered and available through our network of representative from various faiths.
Hospice is not solely for those in their final days of life. A person can be eligible for hospice if they no longer seek curative treatment and have a life expectancy of less than six months. Hospice care is not meant to cure or treat the underlying disease but is intended to manage symptoms of disease and promote quality of life. Seeking hospice care early can assist a person and their family through a difficult process; it has proven to be very beneficial in ensuring optimal comfort for the terminally ill person, but in relieving undue stress on the family. Hospice creates a safe and warm environment which allows a family to focus on the time they still have together.
Hospice is a covered Medicare benefit.
